Ain’t no sunshine when I’m gone

First and foremost, I seem to be getting a steady stream of people now, a lot of you I do not know…so leave some comment love. Thanks for reading, yo!

Secondly, someone searched JIF peanut butter sex to find this blog. I applaud them for their creativity.

I’m off to the Outer Banks for the weekend, but I’ll leave you with this…

———

Every summer I have a CD that I listen to relentlessly. I play them so much that come August, I can’t stand to listen to it one more time. But I like that, because then whenever I do get around to listening to it again, I can only think of is that summer. In 2005, it was Coldplay’s X&Y, 2006 was Nelly Furtado’s Loose, 2007 was David Gray’s New Day at Midnight and this summer was a mixed CD of John Mayer songs. Now despite the fact that I have a set CD for each summer, there are two songs that will forever be my summer songs: Bob Seger’s Night Moves and Fleetwood Mac’s Gypsy.

Whenever I hear a Bob Seger song all I can think about is how I want to have sex in a car, but specifically Night Moves, because it’s a classic and all about teenage nookie. VH1 played that music video a lot when I was a kid and my mom always used it as an example of what I wasn’t allowed to watch, but of course I did. And as soon as I was able to figure out what Night Moves was all about, I fell in love with it. There is something so innocently sexy about it. I never got to have sex in a car in highschool, or college for that matter, so this song always makes me want to live out my frustrated teenage dreams. Can’t you just see yourself driving down some country highway, pulling over and turning this song up really loud and going at it? I know I can. Who wants to make this happen?

Fleetwood Mac’s Gypsy is very much a favorite of mine. I’ve always had a thing for Fleetwood Mac, how can you deny the awesome voice of Stevie Nicks? Gypsy will forever remind me of driving home at 4 am down empty streets in Cary. The street lights running down the street to my house slightly resemble a landing strip at an airport, so they felt like they were guiding me home as I blasted Gypsy with the windows down. Summer always treated me well there.

I’ll listen to these songs year round, but come summer, they stick out; they’re quintessential.

But for right now, well, I’m in a Bill Withers mood, so he and I are off to build those sandcastles in the sky. Have a fantastic weekend. <3 Shro

  1. kiwi! i was unaware of this blog. i am now doing lots of things sober that i used to do drunk, such as facebook stalking. (this is just as entertaining, but not as dangerous.) thank god i found this! i have lots of entries to go through. that should keep me busy this weekend! im doing well and ill call you soon, i promise! anyways, now to my comment. ah yes, robin and her summer cd’s. i seem to remember a time when a lot of justin timberlake was played. was that summer? i believe so. anyways, i cannot believe youve never been rammed in a car! ill give you this advice: try to avoid small cars, such as cabrios and focus’s. you have to put a lot of work into adjusting, as to not have seatbelts shoved up your ass (unless you’re into that sort of thing.) eventually you can find your way in the focus, but if its just a one time thing you dont feel like putting too much effort into, id say go with a larger vehicle. it can be rather exhilerating! and speaking of bill withers, remember that fiona apple cover of “use me up”? listen to that while you’re banging in the car. XOXO!

  2. I love Use Me Up, especially the BW version. JT was played a lot in the winter (ps you totally have my Justified Cd.. i assume its long gone) because I got it for xmas. Unfortunately my Focus and a car of the same size are all I have to work with… Ill let you know how it goes when it finally happens.
